New SkinCategory: Silkworms — Nov 3, 10:40 AM
This is my biggest silk caterpillar and after two entire days of contemplation, he molted for the last time- and will double in size in the next eight days. Imagine crawling out of a tight fitting jacket into roomy soft new skin! I got to watch this happen as my biggest silkworm wriggled out of its old skin. The larger piece on the right is the compressed skin, just moments before stretched out the length of the silkworm. The other shape in front of it is the old head cap of the silkworm! Even the head is so much larger now!
